Google reveals its Nexus One superphone
After all the hype and rumors in recent weeks, Google finally officially announced its Nexus An Android device, or “super phone”, as it seems required.
By HTC, the touchscreen Manufactured device features a 3.7-inch 400 x 800 pixel AMOLED display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon (QSD 8250) chip running at 1 GHz driven.
It has a 5MP camera with rear-facing 2-x digital zoom and LED flash. This video clearly with 720 480 pixels capture at 20 frames per second or higher, depending on lighting conditions.
It also has AGPS, a digital compass, accelerometers and cell tower and Wi-Fi positioning.
Nevertheless, it is quite compact, only 119 mm high and 59.8 wide and 11.5 mm thick, with a weight of 130g.
As with Android devices, there’s a trackball that lights up three different colors to keep you informed about various events. There are also four touch buttons at the bottom of the screen to hold talks, and choose to go home and, as one would expect.
In terms of inputs, there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack with four focal points for microphone and a remote control, and Nexus handles one stereo Bluetooth. It also has active noise cancellation thanks to a rear-mounted microphone, and there is a side mounted volume control.
Another nice touch is the metal plate on the back, where you engraved two lines of custom text, choose in a similar way to Apple, you can enable with iPods.
With respect to the software by Nexus, an ongoing Android 2.1, which is an update of the OS Eclair.
In terms of availability, you can buy it from the Google Mobile site released for $ 529, shipping in the U.S., Britain, Singapore and Hong Kong. Or you can get it for $ 179, with a $ 80 month contract from T-Mobile USA.
Other countries and institutions will be rolled over time, with Vodafone and Verizon signed for Spring.
